I don't know about you, but this is one of my favorite times of year. With the leaves falling, the temperatures cooling down, and the holidays ahead -- it's just so much fun! Along with the seasonal traditions and upcoming gatherings, it's a great time to add holiday-themed activities to the lesson plans. There are so many fun crafts you can do for Thanksgiving! I had plans to do quite a few of them this year, but somehow time passed quicker than I wanted it to. Luckily, my son came home from our co-op with the cute little hand print turkey with a poem so I suppose I at least have that, ha!
Even though crafts didn't end up fitting into our schedule this year, we have definitely utilized the library and found some great books to go along with Thanksgiving -- plus the ones we already own. Here are a few that my boys absolutely love...
I think Sam has read this book by himself at least ten times, ha.
The boys thought this story was hilarious and asked that I read it several times...
I don't know about you, but I LOVE Gail Gibbons books! I've even found some teacher blogs where 1st and 2nd grade teachers use Gail Gibbons books for unit studies -- love them!
If you love Charlie Brown, I highly recommend this one. Ever since my boys saw The Peanuts Movie that came out a few years ago, they've been huge Charlie Brown fans and love this one...
The rest are fun books that my boys also enjoyed...
